One of Gold Coast's most unassuming and under-rated players will become its first playing life member on Saturday when the SUNS host Carlton at Metricon Stadium.
Few would have guessed that wiry former Bulldog Jarrod Harbrow would be the first Gold Coast player to 150 games when the club was formed, but as time has passed, it's little surprise.
Always one to shy away from the spotlight, Harbrow has been one of the SUNS' most consistent players over their eight seasons and could arguably be leading the best and fairest count this season.
"I'd prefer to be in a different spot on the ladder," Harbrow said on Friday.
"To be honest, it's important we get this next five weeks of the season right and that's my main focus.
"I've always put the club first, put the playing group first and I don't think that'll change much.
"I just give my all wherever I'm at. If I've been able to play my part and play a small role in this club, then that's what I value.
"It's humbling."
Although often preferring to step aside from official leadership roles, Harbrow has been an undoubted guiding influence in his time with the SUNS.
He is one of just eight players remaining from the inaugural team and said last week's upset win over Sydney ranked up there with the club's best.
Quickly looking at Gold Coast's games played list and it might be a while before another player joins Harbrow with his milestone.
Tom Lynch (131 games) and Michael Rischitelli (120) are nearest to the Queenslander's mark.
"For me it's about; have I been able to make an impact on the footy club from the volunteers to the top?" Harbrow said.
"Have I been able to play my part on field or off field in the community?
"That's what I value highly. Have I been able to build good relationships and make this a good place for people coming into it?
"I try not to take shortcuts. I try not to make excuses and be honest with the work you put in."
Having just turned 30, Harbrow is out of contract at season's end, but said he's enjoying his footy and wasn't too concerned about how quickly a deal would be done.
"That's ongoing. We're still having chats about that," he said.
"I'm more worried about getting the win against Carlton. When the time comes we'll chat about it but it's not distracting me.
"I'm happy with how things are going at the moment."
