On Saturday night at Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast were outworked by a Carlton team that wanted to win more than they did.

Coming off a momentous win against Sydney the week prior, the SUNS needed to bring the same level of intensity when they took on the Blues.

Touk Miller acknowledges that that simply didn’t happen and wants to see the playing group work together to turn it around.

“I don’t think we worked hard enough. I think, coming out of that (team) meeting, we’ve got to look ourselves in the eye a bit more and see that we’re not on the same page,” Miller told SUNS TV.

“We obviously didn’t deliver what we delivered last week. 

“I simply reckon we didn’t work hard enough and just rolled up (expecting a win).”

The midfielder said that Saturday night’s loss was disappointing, and the players are hurting.

With the added motivation of Jarrod Harbrow’s 150^th club game, earning him Life Membership at the SUNS, Miller was at a loss to explain how they were outworked.  

“That was a pretty gut-wrenching loss to be honest with you.

“It’s a huge moment for the club and I don’t understand why we wouldn’t want to do everything for that bloke and it cuts pretty deep. 

“It just goes to show that anyone in the AFL, no matter where you are on the ladder, you can get knocked off so you’ve got to turn up to play.”

Miller, who had 24 disposals (including 16 contested possessions) and seven tackles, said there were plenty of lessons to come out of the game. 

After completing their review, the SUNS will switch focus to Sunday’s clash against Melbourne. 

“We’ll go through the review on Monday and go through exactly what went wrong. 

“I dare say there was a lot of work rate, physicality and mentally we just weren’t all there during the game.

“(We’re in for) a pretty solid review, but we have to get back on the horse and play way better next week.”
