The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to confirm that Tom Lynch & Steven May will once again captain the club in 2018.
The club canvassed the playing group, football department staff and the board, before making the decision to reappoint both Lynch & May as captains of the club.
Senior coach Stuart Dew said he had been impressed by the leadership of both players since his arrival on the Gold Coast.
“Both Tom & Steven have been extremely invested in the program since my arrival on the Gold Coast, and have earned the privilege of captaining our club for a second year,” he said.
David Swallow, Matt Rosa, Michael Barlow & Touk Miller will again join Lynch and May in the Leadership Group, and will be joined by Jarrod Witts & Pearce Hanley, who have both been elevated to the group.
“Both Jarrod & Pearce are experienced AFL players, and have demonstrated significant leadership capabilities over the pre-season,” Dew said.
“The eight man leadership group will work closely with myself & the entire football department to ensure we can create an environment that is aligned to our values and provides the best possible opportunity for growth both on & off the field."
Michael Rischitelli, an inaugural member of the SUNS' Leadership Group elected to step down from his role to allow other players an opportunity to develop. Rischitelli has committed to continuing to help guide & lead the playing group and will play an important role in driving the club forward.
