The Gold Coast SUNS were one of the more active players in the 2015 trade period, identifying the need for a wingman, a ruckman and a versatile third forward.
The recruiting team of Scott Clayton, Dom Ambrogio and Co. successfully delivered that bounty in the form of Matt Rosa (West Coast, 168 games), Dan Currie (North Melbourne, four games) and Jarrad Grant (Western Bulldogs, 81 games).
When asked about their contribution during the 2016 pre-season campaign thus far, senior assistant coach Andy Lovell was full of praise for the three new recruits.
“Matty Rosa’s obviously played a lot of AFL footy, he’s got a lot of experience, got a wealth of knowledge,” Lovell told reporters on Monday at Metricon Stadium.
“He’s been terrific. He’s obviously recovering from an Achilles tendon injury but he’s up and training now and has been a really valuable contributor for us out on the track with his voice and his direction.
“Dan Currie’s still in rehab but is offering some really strong stuff.
“Jarrad Grant’s had a really good block of training pre-Christmas, so those sort of guys obviously bring real experience and some IP into the organisation and we’re looking forward to their contribution.”
