The Gold Coast SUNS will field one of its strongest NEAFL squads in recent memory with 20-listed players to take the field against the Brisbane Lions reserves on Saturday afternoon at Metricon Stadium.
With just three players on the club’s injury list, reserves coach Stephen Daniel has a wealth of AFL experience at his disposal for the SUNS’ final NEAFL practice match of the pre-season.
Jarrad Grant, Luke Russell, Danny Stanley, Matt Shaw and Brandon Matera have all played more than 70 games at the top level and will line-up in the curtain raiser on Easter Saturday looking to press their cases for a senior recall.
Emerging forward Peter Wright kicked 36 goals in 15 games at NEAFL level last year and will be looking for a big bag against the Lions, while senior emergencies Callum Ah Chee and Mitch Hallahan will also play against the Lions.
Academy players and Queensland U18 state representatives Jack Bowes, Brad Scheer and Daniel Charlesworth have also been named in the 24-man squad.
