McDonald’s Gold Coast today announced they have signed on as Major Partner of the AFL Gold Coast Juniors at McDonald’s Merrimac.

The three-year partnership with AFL Gold Coast Juniors recognises McDonald’s commitment to supporting AFL on the coast as a part of the ongoing relationship with the Gold Coast SUNS.

Representing 11 McDonald’s Licensees from Tweed to Ormeau, McDonald’s Merrimac Licensee Jonathan Pitt said McDonald’s Gold Coast was delighted to become an official partner of AFL Gold Coast Juniors, which aligns with McDonald’s heritage and culture.

“We’ve been a big supporter of AFL Gold Coast SUNS since 2011 and we’ve just signed on again as a partner of the SUNS for another three years,” Jonathan said.

“The AFL Gold Coast Juniors are the future stars of AFL and we can only hope the partnership will encourage more children to take part in sport and lead active lifestyles.

“Our involvement with the AFL Gold Coast Juniors continues our commitment to being a good neighbour in the community. It complements McDonald’s dedication to junior sporting programs and encouraging children of all abilities to have fun.

“McDonald’s are also a proud partner of the Gold Coast SUNS Shine Schools Program which is a healthy, active and nutritional program aimed at Grade 4 students on the Gold Coast.”

AFL Gold Coast Director Ian Barfoot said the AFL Gold Coast Juniors is proud to be associated with a prominent world-wide company.

“McDonald’s has a long history of developing their staff. Similarly our club committees and team coaches work to develop the skills and knowledge of Junior AFL players,” Ian said.

“Personal development, working in a team environment and commitment to achieving goals are as common to Junior AFL players as they are to those pursuing a career at McDonald’s.

“It’s up to the people leading our organisations to provide the opportunities for our recruits to achieve their personal goals. This sponsorship and ongoing relationship with McDonald’s will allow AFL Gold Coast Juniors to improve the methodologies our affiliated clubs use to develop young sports people.”

With the help of McDonald’s sponsorship, AFL Gold Coast Juniors can continue to provide an environment that encourages participation, enjoyment and success.

As well as Junior AFL, McDonald’s is committed to the long-term support of events and organisations such as Queensland Swimming, Clean up Australia Day, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Little Athletics.
