Easton Wood has once again been sidelined with a hamstring strain, with the Western Bulldogs skipper expected to miss up to three weeks with his latest setback.
Meanwhile, key forward Jack Redpath will miss three months after having more surgery on his knee.
Wood, 28, missed the last three rounds of 2017 with his problematic hamstrings, and that layoff came after missing six games in 2016 and most of the 2013 with the injury.
With the Dogs already missing important defenders Dale Morris (knee) and Marcus Adams (ankle), the loss of Wood will leave the Dogs' young defence even more undermanned.
"Although he got through the game, scans have confirmed since that he has got a low-grade hamstring injury," medical services manager Chris Bell said.
"He definitely won't play this week because we don't want to take any risks, but we expect him to be available in the next two to three weeks."
Redpath, who missed the past two matches with soreness to the knee he had reconstructed at the end of 2016, has had another bout of surgery.
"Jack has suffered some soreness in his knee over the last two weeks," Bell said.
"Unfortunately it hasn't settled and we had to proceed to surgery. The surgery involved a repair to his lateral meniscus which is a shock-absorbing pad in his knee."
