The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to announce that Neil Craig has joined the club in a role that will see him share his knowledge and expertise with the Gold Coast SUNS coaching group.
Craig joins the club in a part - time consultancy role, after recently working with the English National Rugby Union side as Coaching Advisor, during its most recent World Cup campaign.
The vastly experienced former senior coach has been involved across different areas of AFL club’s football programs throughout his 22-year career, including stints at Adelaide, Melbourne, Essendon and Carlton.
“Over the past two season’s we have worked hard to ensure we foster a learning mindset across our entire football program, both on and off field, and the engagement of Neil will further support this objective,” General Manager Football Operations Jon Haines stated.
“Neil will have a very specific scope of responsibility and will work closely with Stuey and the coaching group on how they collaborate, reflect and teach.”
Craig said he was excited by the opportunity to work with a young, enthusiastic group of players and coaches who were willing to learn.
“I enjoy working with coaches in high performance environments and the little bits I’ve had to do with the coaching group at the Gold Coast and Stuart individually have been really refreshing,” Craig said.
“My role will be to observe, to listen and pose questions and offer my observations to Stuey and the coaching group, based on my experiences.”
Craig will continue his involvement with Rugby World Cup Finalists, England and look to utilise his experiences gained across both programs.
