Gold Coast SUNS skipper Gary Ablett and his fiancé Jordan Papalia tied the knot in an intimate New Year’s Day ceremony at Stones of the Yarra Valley in Coldstream, Victoria.
In a New Year’s Eve post on Instagram, the two-time Brownlow medallist hinted at the nuptials, suggesting the best chapter of his life was to begin on 1/1/16.
“New Year's Eve 2015 - closing out the year and finishing a chapter of my life and tomorrow the best one yet begins,” he wrote.
At the first training session of 2016, senior assistant Andy Lovell confirmed to the media that Ablett would miss the first few sessions of 2016 as he celebrates his honeymoon with his new bride.
“Just a few sessions this week off so give him a chance to get away and celebrate his wedding,” Lovell said.
“Talking to him before Christmas, he’s really excited and really looking forward to what the year ahead holds.”
