The Gold Coast SUNS will enter next Thursday's 2014 NAB AFL Draft at the Gold Coast Convention Centre with three selections inside the first 30 with picks eight, 15 and 29 at their disposal.

List & Strategy Manager, Scott Clayton, will be hoping to replicate last year's draft success in which he nabbed rebounding defender Kade Kolodjashnij with pick five, developing tall Jack Leslie with pick 20 and the hard-running Sean Lemmens with pick 27.

Kolodjashnij and Lemmens each played 18 games in their debut campaigns, while Leslie made his first senior appearance late in the season.

goldcoastfc.com.au has gone back and looked at the club's complete draft history, beginning in 2009; two years before the GC SUNS entered the AFL.

2010

David Swallow was Gold Coast's first national draft selection in 2010, pick one overall.

National Draft

Ahead of joining the AFL in 2011, the GC SUNS were provided with draft concessions which included giving the club the first selection in each round of the 2010 national draft, as well as eight additional first round picks.

Three of those first round selections in David Swallow, Dion Prestia and Tom Lynch are now part of the club's leadership group while Harley Bennell and Sam Day have both passed 50 senior games. Daniel Gorringe and Seb Tape are two South Australians hoping to cement their spots in the senior side with Gold Coast in 2015.

Of those first round selections, only Josh Caddy is no longer with the club, traded to Geelong in 2012 for a round one compensation pick (pick 15 in this year's draft) and pick 55 which was used to select Timmy Sumner.

2012

Jack Martin was the prized recruit from the GC SUNS 2012 draft period.

National Draft

As in 2011, the GC SUNS traded away their first pick (pick 2) as part of a deal to obtain GWS' mini-draft pick number one which was then used to select West Australian young gun Jack Martin.

Jesse Lonergan was the club's only selection in the first two rounds of the national draft. Timmy Sumner and Clay Cameron have shown plenty of potential as they look to develop into regular senior players over the next few seasons.

2013

Kade Kolodjashnij is presented with his jumper by Andy Lovell on draft night in 2013.

National Draft

Twelve months on from the 2013 national draft, and the results of it have only strengthened the belief that Clayton is one of the best list managers in the game. Kade Kolodjashnij had a very exciting debut season, while fellow draftees Jack Leslie and Sean Lemmens showed tremendous upside in their debut seasons.
