The Gold Coast SUNS will enter next Thursday's 2014 NAB AFL Draft at the Gold Coast Convention Centre with three selections inside the first 30 with picks eight, 15 and 29 at their disposal.
List & Strategy Manager, Scott Clayton, will be hoping to replicate last year's draft success in which he nabbed rebounding defender Kade Kolodjashnij with pick five, developing tall Jack Leslie with pick 20 and the hard-running Sean Lemmens with pick 27.
Kolodjashnij and Lemmens each played 18 games in their debut campaigns, while Leslie made his first senior appearance late in the season.

2009
Rookie Draft
The Gold Coast SUNS were allocated the first five selctions of the 2009 rookie draft with the players selected representing the club in the VFL in 2010.
Only Danny Stanley is still with the SUNS, establishing himself as a senior regular with 75 games in four AFL seasons.

2010
David Swallow was Gold Coast's first national draft selection in 2010, pick one overall.
National Draft
Ahead of joining the AFL in 2011, the GC SUNS were provided with draft concessions which included giving the club the first selection in each round of the 2010 national draft, as well as eight additional first round picks.
Three of those first round selections in David Swallow, Dion Prestia and Tom Lynch are now part of the club's leadership group while Harley Bennell and Sam Day have both passed 50 senior games. Daniel Gorringe and Seb Tape are two South Australians hoping to cement their spots in the senior side with Gold Coast in 2015.
Of those first round selections, only Josh Caddy is no longer with the club, traded to Geelong in 2012 for a round one compensation pick (pick 15 in this year's draft) and pick 55 which was used to select Timmy Sumner.

The GC SUNS traded away their top pick in 2011 for the rights to Jaeger O'Meara.
National Draft
The Gold Coast SUNS traded pick 4 and their first round compensation draft pick to GWS in exchange for mini-draft pick 1 (used to select Jaeger O'Meara) and pick 31.
Henry Schade has now had three years of development on the senior list and is expected to push for selection in 2015. Zone selection Alex Sexton played 14 senior games in 2014, impressing late in the season whilst playing a run-with role.

Jack Martin was the prized recruit from the GC SUNS 2012 draft period.
National Draft
As in 2011, the GC SUNS traded away their first pick (pick 2) as part of a deal to obtain GWS' mini-draft pick number one which was then used to select West Australian young gun Jack Martin.
Jesse Lonergan was the club's only selection in the first two rounds of the national draft. Timmy Sumner and Clay Cameron have shown plenty of potential as they look to develop into regular senior players over the next few seasons.

Twelve months on from the 2013 national draft, and the results of it have only strengthened the belief that Clayton is one of the best list managers in the game. Kade Kolodjashnij had a very exciting debut season, while fellow draftees Jack Leslie and Sean Lemmens showed tremendous upside in their debut seasons.
