Star trio could be back this weekend
SENIOR coach Guy McKenna will have some tough decisions to make ahead of his side’s Round 11 clash against North Melbourne with star trio Jared Brennan, Charlie Dixon and Karmichael Hunt to undergo a series of tests as they look to make a return to playing this week.
After missing a number of weeks as they recover from their injuries, Dixon (knee) and Hunt (hamstring tendonitis) will likely be required to regain fitness with the NEAFL team under Shaun Hart before Brennan is considered a good chance to line up against the Kangaroos after missing just one week of Premiership action.
In many ways it’s been a break-out season for Brennan, who’s been a valuable partner in crime for Gary Ablett around the centre clearances – ranking 3rd at the club behind Jaeger O’Meara and the GC SUNS captain.
GC SUNS General Manager of Football Operations – Marcus Ashcroft told goldcoastfc.com.au Brennan had responded well to treatment after suffering his knee injury against the Hawks.
“Jared sustained a medial ligament strain against Hawthorn and has since been closely monitored by the club’s high performance team,” he said.
“We initially anticipated Jared’s injury wouldn’t see him available until our Round 12 clash against Essendon, he has since recovered well and subsequently will be tested at this Wednesday’s main training session.”
