The Gold Coast SUNS have re-signed 21-year-old Daniel Gorringe, extending his contract until the end of 2015.

Gorringe, who has played 19 games for the GC SUNS, becomes the thirteenth player to re-commit to the Club in 2013.

Taken with Pick 10 in the GC SUNS inaugural draft intake, Gorringe is a member of the club’s developing big man contingent.

A mobile ruckman with a great athletic leap, Gorringe emerged as an key piece to the GC SUNS midfield puzzle after injuries to Zac Smith and Charlie Dixon saw the 200cm tall elevated to the starting line-up.

In crediting Gorringe's manager, Marty Pask from the Essentially Group, GC SUNS List Manager Scott Clayton was pleased to announce Gorringe’s multi-year contract extension.

“We are pleased to confirm Daniel will remain for a further two years with the Gold Coast SUNS,” Clayton said.

“We always planned for Daniel to continue his AFL career on the Gold Coast and we look forward to watching him continue to develop.”

Considered an important part of the Club’s future successes, Gorringe told goldcoastfc.com.au he’s very excited to stay on board with the Club.

“I like the direction the playing group is heading and hopefully in the next two years I’ll be able to taste success during that time,” he said.

The South Australian is hoping to build on his solid 2013 campaign finishing the season extremely well.

“I got a taste of senior footy with Zac Smith and Charlie Dixon going down to injury and was able to have a pretty good pre-season as well, so hopefully I can build on some more opportunities in the future.”

Gorringe joins teammates Zac Smith, Trent McKenzie, Seb Tape, Jack Martin, Rory Thompson, Charlie Dixon, Jesse Lonergan, Jackson Allen, Clay Cameron, Henry Schade, Dion Prestia and Jaeger O’Meara who have all re-committed in 2013.
