Gold Coast SUNS skipper Gary Ablett knows the Clubs supporters are desperate to celebrate a maiden Metricon Stadium victory and feels todays QCLASH four encounter would be the perfect time to deliver it.
"it would be huge, it would be huge you know all of our supporters and members have been waiting a longtime and I think it's about time we got them a win at home and i think its important that we get a win for ourselves as well because over the years we want this place to be a place that rival teams hate to come and I've got no doubt we can do that it's just got to start with a few wins."
The skipper has been impressed with the intensity and dedication shown by his team mates in recent weeks saying that they have really turned a corner in regards to match preparation, adding they now have the confidence to take risks and really Grab hold of a game.
That confidence given a significant boost following their after the siren win against the Tigers in Cairns last week.
We had our first win last weekend which is fantastic and we are playing some good footy at the moment, we have just got to before consistent which intention every week and if we can do that i think we have got a massive chance of winning our second game this weekend."
Ablett said while the Boys had taken time to celebrate the Cairns result, they had quickly moved on and shifted their focus to today's QCLASH game, a match which While only four games old is already considered a crucial, must win encounter by both teams.
"There has been a lot of talk in the media from both sides this week and both sides really want to win, I think this is the fourth one and they are up two one, so it would be good to square things up and get a win and I really can't wait to get out there it's a big game, it's the first time we have had one at home."
Brisbane's tactics in previous CLASHES has been to upset the young SUNS with a physical approach to the game on and off the ball and with Coach Michael Voss this week ordering the Lions players to lift their aggression and walk a fine line between what is legal and not as they look to take a stranglehold on the battle for Queensland bragging rights.
"Yeah Brisbane play that way. I know they are a side that has done that to us maybe it's because we are a young side they have really come out to I guess try and take a few of the boys minds off the game and a little bit of stuff that is bending the rules a little bit but we are going to go out there and play fair hard football and if we can do that we have got the side to win."
