Gold Coast SUNS recruit Jared Brennan has declared he is a certain starter for GC SUNS debut match against Carlton at the Gabba on Saturday week.

"I am ready to go. I could have played the final NAB challenge game however the conditioning staff held me back a bit," he said.

"I have been training fairly fiercely the last few weeks and doing a lot of contested work so it is not like I haven't had bodies against me.”

Brennan’s return will certainly strengthen the exciting, young GC SUNS team and it’s obvious his lack of match time isn’t worrying the former Lion.

"I am not sure if I have ever gone through a full pre-season," he said.

"I get operated on at the end of most seasons which has prevented me from playing pre-season games. I only played one pre-season game last year and started that pretty well.

"I am probably a few kilos lighter than last year as well, so I am a bit fitter and hopefully that will keep me in good stead for the start of the season."

Brennan will again be put through a heavy training regime before heading into the season opener."I will train all of this week, including doing the game scenario drills later in the week.

Brennan will be joined by his GC SUNS teammates at the Season Launch and Family Day at Broadwater Parklands Marine Parade, Southport from 10am to 12noon on Saturday, March 26.
