Gold Coast SUNS assistant coach Shane O'Bree says big forward Charlie Dixon would have to replicate his form in the reserves this week to be considered for senior selection again.

Dixon kicked 11 goals in the twos last week and was still left out of the GC SUNS team set to face the Sydney Swans at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.

O'Bree said the 20-year-old needed to find some consistency before getting another look-in.

"Charlie's form has been fantastic," O'Bree said. "We're just after a consistent basis with him. The reserve level to senior level is a massive jump so we're hoping he can come out and do the same this week and put his hand up.

"Most of the time with key forwards it is body positioning and keeping in contests, and at reserves he finds it's easy because he's so much bigger.

"In seniors he's up against the best defenders so when he comes back in we want him full of confidence against whoever he plays on."

Despite previously playing a couple of weeks in defence in the reserves, O'Bree said Dixon was likely to continue playing forward.

The former Collingwood star also said Daniel Harris would have to keep performing strongly in the reserves to gain a senior recall.

Harris, one of the GC SUNS most consistent in the early rounds of the season, was dropped before round 14 against the Western Bulldogs and has not returned.

"He was real close [to playing this week]," O'Bree said of his chances.

"His form the past couple of weeks has probably dropped away a bit so we're after Harro to come back in when he's full of confidence, to come in against the older and more mature teams the next few weeks."
