The Gold Coast SUNS have landed Fremantle Docker Greg Broughton.

Broughton becomes the GC SUNS latest acquisition through the exchange period, joining the experienced Tom Murphy, young gun Jack Martin and two prized first round draft selections.

The GC SUNS have secured Broughton and draft selection 60 from Fremantle in exchange for draft selection 37.

Selection 37 was the one of the draft selections the GC SUNS received in the trading of Tom Hickey to StKilda.

GC SUNS General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said the deal was a great result for the GC SUNS, and Broughton would add valuable experience and versatility to the team.

Securing another experienced player like Greg, and maintaining our position with a selection within the first round of the National Draft is an excellent result for the club.

"We have been active in our pursuit to further strengthen our list, Greg now joins Tom Murphy in adding valuable experience to our list," Ashcroft said.

Broughton, 26, played 68 games for the Dockers since making his debut in 2009.

He was a mature age selection in the 2009 Rookie Draft.

Broughton played the first 16 games of the 2012 season, before undergoing surgery to repair an injured joint in his right ring finger.

Ashcroft said the GC SUNS had been able to deliver on its objective of adding both experience and future elite talent to its list.

“This year’s exchange period has been extremely successful."

The experience that Greg and Tom bring to our group will help on and off the field as we look to build on the momentum we generated in the second half of last season. Jack Martin is an exciting prospect for the future, and we have the opportunity to add another elite player to our list with pick 13. Pleasingly we also still hold three first round compensation picks to be used in the coming years.

The 2012 Gillette AFL Trade Period ends on Friday.
