The Gold Coast SUNS have invited former St Kilda player Andrew McQualter and Hobart’s Aaron Hall, to train with the club in the lead up to the AFL’s pre-season and rookie drafts.

McQualter, was released by St Kilda after six seasons and 89 games commenced training with the GC SUNS on Monday.

Hall, a 21 year old from Hobart, has impressed many during his time with the Hobart Tigers and is hopeful the GC SUNS may throw him an AFL lifeline.

Gold Coast SUNS General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said the club had invited the pair to train with the club along with former GC SUN Michael Coad.

‘‘We’re in a position where we will have a couple of selections in the final draft of the year, so it’s a great opportunity to invite the boys and have a real close look at them.

‘‘At this time of the year it’s more of a benefit to get them involved for a few weeks rather than not. It gives the boys every opportunity to impress.”

McQualter played in St Kilda’s three Grand Final teams and has played ten finals matches having secured a spot in the successful St Kilda team.

The AFL’s Pre-Season and Rookie drafts will be held on Tuesday, December 13.
