Karmichael Hunt will get a chance to be the hunter and hunted when he lines up for the Gold Coast SUNS reserves at Broadbeach on Saturday.
GC SUNS development coach Andy Lovell said the 24-year-old would play Morningside in the NEAFL with the hope of developing his attacking awareness after eight matches in the seniors as a defender.
He said there was no time frame on Hunt's stint in the seconds as he would play both attacking and tagging roles.
"We think he can experience a different environment there. We want to play him as an attacking midfielder so he gets exposed to different decision making elements of the game and we feel there's probably a bit less pressure in the northern footy league than the AFL," Lovell said.
"We'll just play it by ear and see how he's going. We'll expose him to being the hunter and we'll expose him to being a free flowing midfielder.
"We feel as a defender in the AFL you're exposed to a different environment than you are in the midfield and have to make different decisions. We feel when he comes back into the senior side, more than likely as a defender, we're hoping he'll come back as a more rounded player having experienced a different position."
Lovell said the GC SUNS would make the decision on his return to the seniors based on the development they saw from him in the twos.
