Jack Lukosius, Izak Rankine and Ben King have earnt selection in the AFL Players’ Association 22Under22 team for the 2020 season.
The SUNS had a record eight players nominated by the AFLPA board for the squad, with the three players above earning enough votes to qualify for the final team.
The team recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under for the entirety of the season (until October 24) who have made an impact at their respective clubs so early in their careers.
Lukosius was named in the back pocket and was selected in 81.23% of teams, the fourth most of this year’s selections.
The defender was ranked #1 in the AFL for metres gained this season with an average of 470 per game.
Rankine is named in the forward pocket after playing 12 games in his debut season where he ranked elite for shots on goal as a small forward.
King, who played all 17 games and led the club with 25 goals this season, has been selected on the interchange.
It is the most selections Gold Coast has received since 2015 (also three).
