Jack Martin injury update
Jack Martin will be sidelined for an extended period of time after scans today revealed considerable damage to his left AC joint.
Martin injured his shoulder during the opening term of the GC SUNS 18-point victory over Richmond at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.
General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the results.
"Unfortunately the scans have shown that Jack has extensive damage to his left shoulder. Jack and the club's medical team will meet with specialists in the coming days to determine the appropriate course of action."
Ashcroft confirmed Martin will be sidelined for a considerable period of time.
"The nature of the injury means Jack will be sidelined for an extended period of time.
"Although this is a very disappointing outcome for Jack, we will ensure we provide him with the very best medical and welfare support to assist him during his rehabilitation from the injury."
Martin, 19, said it was a disappointing way to start his AFL career.
"It was a such a big build up and it was great that the boys got the win, but individually, I will probably remember it for all the wrong reasons."
"I’m now just looking forward to starting my rehabilitation and giving myself every chance of playing some football later in the season," Martin said.
