Reigning Club Champion Sam Collins has returned to pre-season looking to take his form from last year into the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Speaking at the end week 2, Collins said he had fully recovered from off-season ankle surgery and was looking forward to attacking the next two months before the start of his third season with the club.

“I had a clean out on my left ankle after the season finished so I was in rehabilitation group until January,” Collins said.

“I’m back now feeling fit, all over it (ankle surgery), I got through that fine and I’ve just been really, really enjoying being back around the whole group, out on the track.”

Collins said he was impressed with how hard the group had worked over the offseason to ensure they came back ready to go.

“We're two weeks in, it’s going quick. We've had a really good break and the boys came back in great condition.”

“We're able to just focus on our craft, which is what we do best and make sure that we're starting to implement the game plan and pick up on where we can improve.”

“Everyone brings great energy out to the track, everyone's got great personality and we're loving being out here, attacking pre-season.”

Looking to back up and build on his 2020 campaign, consistency would be the key.

“I just need to focus on doing that (consistency) each and every week and play my part in the team so I'm focusing on that this preseason.”

“Making sure I'm fit enough to be able to hold out games and play consistent football week in, week out.”

“Nailing my craft and doing all the little things and maximising the time on the field because it's not long until Round 1.”
