Rory Thompson has been crowned the top vote-getter for the 2013 Gold Coast SUNS Club Championship tally this week, after his superb defensive efforts against Essendon in the side’s Round 12 clash at Etihad Stadium.
The Gold Coaster continues to impress in the centre half-back position, first matching up against key forward Michael Hurley before switching to Joe Daniher in the second-half – keeping the young gun to just three goals for the remainder of the match.

There’s little to be said for Jaeger O’Meara, who now seems the red-hot favourite to take out the AFL NAB Rising Star award after the teenage superstar became the youngest player in more than a decade to collect 30 disposals.
Finishing with an equal team-high seven marks, O’Meara earns four Club Champion points for his stellar performance.
Trent McKenzie trusty left-foot continues to reward the defender with a place in the weekly Club Champion countdown, and is likely to receive plenty of attention from Adelaide this weekend after his 27 disposals and game-high 8 rebounding 50s caused chaos amongst the Bomber’s forwardline… McKenzie receiving three Club Champion points for his great work in the back pocket.
Gary Ablett was his usual busy-self against the Bombers, with 21 of his 36 disposals coming off the back of contested possessions… the code’s best player earning two Club Champion points for his great performance.
