Gold Coast winger Matt Rosa says beating Geelong will take more than simply slowing down dynamic midfield duo Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield.

Since Dangerfield's off-season arrival at the Cattery, he and skipper Selwood have quickly formed the most damaging midfield tandem in the AFL.

They combine for 55 disposals a game, with Dangerfield ranked fourth in contested possessions and Selwood second in clearances.

If one doesn't get you, the other usually does, with the pair a major force behind Geelong's 4-1 start to the season.

But Rosa says Gold Coast's gameplan will run much deeper than the two midfielders when they prepare to upset the Cats on Saturday night.

"They're both definitely great players and we'll go in with a team approach to beat their whole midfield," Rosa said.

"They bat pretty deep in their midfield.

"You can't just worry about one or two guys, you have to take them on with a team approach and we'll definitely do that.

"We think if we play our way and play to our potential, we'll give them a good run."

That depth Rosa talks about includes Mitch Duncan (24 possessions per game), Cam Guthrie (22), Steven Motlop (21) and former SUN Josh Caddy (20), who all average more than 20 touches a game.

Gold Coast physically matched unbeaten North Melbourne last Saturday night, but butchered the ball and lost by 38 points.

Rosa said they had not lost any confidence and would continue to take the game on against Geelong.

"We're still staying really positive," he said.

"We still hunted the footy and tried to get our hands on it as much as we could. It was just the simple skill errors that allowed them to kick two or three goals in a row, which is good in a way because we can turn that around.

"We've still got to be bold with our ball movement.

"We're always trying to find that balance. We've moved the ball pretty well at times this year, but a few times we've gone for it a bit too much."
