Metricon Stadium is on the verge of welcoming its millionth customer.

A total of 997,445 customers have visited Metricon Stadium since the venue’s Public Open Day in May 2011.

Customers have attended AFL matches and training sessions, community sport and events, concerts, exhibitions and corporate functions.

GC SUNS Chairman, Tony Cochrane, said it was a huge achievement for the club and stadium.

“We’re going to have our millionth customer come through the gate sometime this Saturday and that’s a tremendous achievement for a young club and we’re going to make a fuss over that as we should,” he said.

The lucky customer will enjoy an upgraded to a Gold Coast SUNS corporate experience in The Lounge presented by Virgin Australia for the game and will be presented the match ball on the field after the game.

A crowd in excess of 12,000 is expected at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the SUNS take on top of the ladder North Melbourne.

Cochrane said it would be a great game.

“Enormous. Not very often in our history, first playing second. So it’s a great opportunity for all our fans to really show their support, get out here this weekend,” he said.

“We just want all our fanbase to get out there and really get behind your Gold Coast SUNS this weekend. It’s going to be a tremendous game.”
