The club’s new social group, Women of the SUNS officially launched last Thursday, holding their first function at Palazzo Versace.

The GC  SUNS unveiled plans to launch the women’s coterie group, after overwhelming response following the successful ladies lunch in July 2012.

The ladies enjoyed a night filled with entertainment and fun as they mingled with players, staff and other likeminded women.

GC SUNS CEO Travis Auld said the community initiative would become an important part of the club’s program, aimed at celebrating women’s involvement in the sport.

“Today we launch Women of the SUNS to celebrate the contribution women make to football, which is varied from supporters, mum’s, wives, umpires and volunteers.”

“Around 250 people turned up to the lunch in July… and the feedback we got was that females in the club wanted to create their own group, so we’ve done that and tonight we’re here launching at Versace.”

Jessica Skarratt, SUNS TV Host, believes the initiative will help strengthen relationship between the club and its female support networks.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for women to network, socialise and meet the players and immerse themselves in the football culture that is really starting to take off on the Gold Coast.”
