SUNS defender Charlie Ballard is a chance to return for Round 6 after missing last week’s match with an ankle injury.
The fourth-year tall injured his ankle in the Round 4 match against Carlton and SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update Ballard would be a test for Saturday’s game.
“Charlie is going really well, he had a good run yesterday,” Bull said.
“He was just a little bit too sore at the back end of last week to function well enough to play.
“We’ll see how he goes through training at the back end of the week and see his availability for this weekend.”
Defender Sean Lemmens will continue to progress through the concussion protocols this week but Bull was confident the 26-year-old would be available for selection again for Round 6.
“Sean will just train now with the group tomorrow and for the back end of the week and be available for selection as well all being well,” Bull said.
Rookie Luke Towey has been ruled out in the short-term as he deals with a stress fracture in his foot.
“Luke’s got a stress reaction in his third metatarsal bone in his foot,” Bull explained.
“He’ll be offloaded in a boot for the first couple of weeks and then undertake a gradual reload process from there.”
