Voting is now open for the Austworld Player of the Round following Saturday afternoon’s resounding victory over the Sydney Swans at Metricon Stadium.
Vice-captain Touk Miller was again at his ball-winning finest in midfield collecting 36 disposals to go with a team-high nine clearances, 17 contested possessions and nine tackles.
Only Nick Holman laid more tackles than Miller in a fair sign of just how impressive his pressure on the Swans was throughout the contest. He also finished with 23 disposals and a goal.
Speaking of goals, there was a fair spread with seven separate goal kickers, led by a career-high five majors from Ben King including three in a third quarter that opened some real distance between the two sides.
Ben Ainsworth hit the scoreboard with three goals from 20 disposals, whilst also making a team-high nine tackles.
Izak Rankine set the Metricon Stadium crowd alight with two goals of his own while also playing a key role in the build-up to a number more.
Sean Lemmens and Oleg Markov were two defenders tasked with keeping a high-scoring Swans side under control and they did just that. Going the other way, Lemmens finished with 16 touches and four tackles while Markov provided one of the afternoon’s highlights with a storming run down the wing in the final term.
Noah Anderson was also a ball magnet in midfield racking up 34 disposals and eight score involvements while David Swallow put on a true captain’s performance finishing with 31 touches to go with 12 contested possessions.
