Maverick Weller, Liam Patrick and Danny Stanley have all been re-signed by the Gold Coast SUNS, whilst Kyal Horsely will be elevated onto the senior list, as the GC SUNS playing squad continues to take shape for 2013 and beyond.

Maverick Weller was first signed by the GC SUNS in 2010 as a 17 year old as part of the concessions for their list establishment.

Weller has played 28 games in his first two seasons in the AFL, including the last nine games of 2012, and has put pen to paper for another season.

Fan favourite Liam Patrick showed flashes of brilliance through 2012, and with 11 games under his belt, including eight this season the SUNS will hope to see Patrick continue to build on his consistency.

Hailing from the small Lajamanu community, 900km south of Darwin, Patrick will be with the GC SUNS until at least 2013.

Danny Stanley, who joined the GC SUNS in 2010 via the Rookie Draft, has been a consistent performer over the past two seasons, culminating in his third placing in the Club Championships in 2012 despite missing nine games.

The former Magpie has not only played important roles for the club at both ends of the ground, but has continually improved during his team with the club.

Kyal Horsely was a revelation for the GC SUNS in 2012. Taken with selection 2 in the 2012 Rookie Draft after several outstanding seasons for Subiaco in the WAFL, Horsely was elevated onto the senior list prior to Round 5 and made his debut that week against North Melbourne.

Horsely played 13 games in his debut season and averaged 17 possessions. His experience and big body around the contest were welcome additions to the GC SUNS midfield.

His efforts were recognised at the GC SUNS Club Championship Dinner, with Horsely receiving the Iron Man Award and the Most Professional Award.

General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said the quartet represented an important part of the Gold Coast SUNS future, and was delighted to have them all re-signed prior to the club's departure to Arizona for a high altitude training camp.

A number of our players are displaying real commitment to the club, and that in turn gives us great confidence that the players believe in our program and are determined to deliver success for the Gold Coast Football Club and our fans, Ashcroft said.

"Maverick has been with us since he was 17, and we look forward to seeing his continuing development."

"Liam Patrick is a great story. Coming from such a remote part of Australia and carving out an AFL career is something he should be very proud of."

"Danny Stanley has also been with us since our first game in the VFL, and showed his value to our side this year, reflected by his third placing in the Best and Fairest Award. "

"Kyal Horsely's perseverance to make it to the AFL has been outstanding, and his professionalism since joining the Gold Coast SUNS has been exemplary."

He has left no stone unturned in his quest to become a regular AFL player.
