GC SUNS AFLW key forward Tara Bohanna has been named in the 40-person 2022 AFLW All Australian squad after an outstanding debut season.
Bohanna finished fifth in the league’s goalkicking this season, booting 13 goals from her 10 games.
The 27-year-old was a revelation for the SUNS in 2022 after being added to the club’s list following the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.
Overlooked year after year for a place on an AFLW list, Bohanna continued to ply her trade in the VFL, winning the best & fairest for the Southern Saints in 2021 and also being named in the VFLW Team of the Year.
Debuting in Round 1, Bohanna began her AFLW career in the best possible fashion, kicking her first goal with her first disposal.
She booted multiple goals in four games this season, including three-goal hauls against West Coast in Round 2 and St Kilda in Round 8.
Bohanna becomes the fifth SUN to be nominated for an All Australian squad behind Lauren Ahrens (2021), Jamie Stanton, Kalinda Howarth and Jade Pregelj (all 2020).
A final team of 21 will be selected by a 10-person voting panel, with the team to be announced at the W Awards on Tuesday April 6.
