The Gold Coast SUNS wish to thank Kate Surman, Jacqui Yorston, Britt Perry and Cheyenne Hammond for their services to the club after a trade was struck with Port Adelaide for the four players.
The SUNS will receive selections 34 and 81 in the upcoming NAB AFLW Draft in exchange for the players, giving the club two first-round picks in the upcoming NAB AFLW Draft.
Gold Coast SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago thanked the players for their dedication to the club since its foundation season.
“We would like to extend our thanks to Kate, Jacqui, Britt and Cheyenne who were all foundation players for our AFLW program,” Sessarago said.
“All of these players have played a large role in establishing the foundations of our football program so we thank them for their service to the Gold Coast SUNS.
“Pleasingly we have been able to strengthen our draft hand as a result of this trade and now have two first-round picks.”
Surman has played 26 games in three seasons with the SUNS since joining as an expansion signing in 2019.
Yorston, who missed the entire 2021 season with an ACL injury, has played 15 games for the SUNS since 2020.
Drafted to the SUNS in 2019, Hammond has played 22 games across three seasons, while Perry has played 14 games and kicked four goals.
The AFLW Sign & Trade Period will run until 3pm AEST on Wednesday June 8.
