The SSC Olympics were the brainchild of organiser Mike Dwyer, who co ordinated the day to raise funds for (Friedreich's Ataxia Research Association) in which both his daughters have been effected by this little know disease.

Dwyer is also strongly linked to the club as he has played a significant part in the clubs short history, taking big man Charlie Dixon on board as a host Family for Dixons first 12 months.

The club were right behind the day which saw the Promotions teams major inflatable in action for all of the kids, GCFC Community Programs Corey Bell take part in the parents vs teachers and students basketball game and Bigman Charlie Dixon on hand to sign autographs for children and parents on the day.
