2022 draftee Bailey Humphrey will become the SUNS second AFL debutant of 2023 in Saturday night’s clash with St Kilda.
The powerful mid/forward, who was taken at Pick 6 after captaining Coates Talent League outfit Gippsland Power and represented Vic Country in 2022, has transitioned seamlessly into the club since being drafted in November.
“Bailey’s commitment to being the best player he can be and desire to continually improve has been exceptional,” Senior Coach Stuart Dew said.
“He shows professionalism and work rate well beyond his years, he’s worked extremely hard since joining the club and has put in the hard yards to earn this opportunity.
“It’s a reward not only for Bailey’s dedication and sacrifices, but also for his family’s and those close to him.
Despite being sidelined with a foot injury on the eve of Round 1, Humphrey has since featured in both of the SUNS VFL matches to date, averaging 17 touches to go with a brilliant long-range goal in Round 2.
The SUNS are eyeing consecutive victories in Round 4, taking on the Saints at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night, first bounce 7.30pm AEST.
