The Gold Coast SUNS could be boosted by the return of an important defender, but will also be without two players this week in the Qscan Injury Update.
Senior player Lachie Weller is officially a test to return this week after recovering from swelling in his knee.
“Lachie is doing really well, he’ll train on Thursday and will undergo some testing later in the week to determine his availability for the weekend,” GC SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Qscan Injury Update.
In the AFL match against Carlton, Joel Jeffrey left the field in the final quarter with a foot injury and wasn’t able to return.
Bull said Jeffrey would be sidelined for at least the next six weeks with a stress reaction in his foot.
“Joel noticed he had some foot pain in the fourth quarter,” Bull said.
“We’ve assessed him thoroughly since and it’s been revealed that he’s got a stress reaction in his foot so unfortunately for Joel that will mean he will be out for about six to eight weeks at this stage.”
In the VFL, Charlie Constable sustained a concussion and has entered the 12-day concussion protocol.
“Charlie was concussed in the VFL game but is feeling much better now,” Bull said.
“We’ll just take every precaution with Charlie and progress him through as we do with all our concussions, and he’ll miss this week.”
Lloyd Johnston is recovering from a facial injury in the VFL and will also be a test for this weekend.
In positive news, Connor Budarick made his long-awaited return in the VFL from his second ACL injury, and got through the match unscathed.
