The Gold Coast SUNS have reached a milestone, with 10,000 Foundation Members signing on in the lead up to their 2011 AFL debut season.

GC SUNS CEO Travis Auld said he would like to thank each and every member and the Gold Coast community for getting behind the club.

“We put the 10,000 Foundation Membership target out there at the start of this season. It was a pretty bold number and there were plenty of people who said it couldn’t be done,” he said.

“To reach 10,000 Foundation Members shows the strength and passion of the Gold Coast community in seeing their home team succeed on a national scale.”

Auld said this is a true community owned club which is evident through the local support GC SUNS are receiving. We were ecstatic to hit the 8,000 mark in early August, but couldn’t believe how quickly the numbers grew once it was announced that Foundation Membership opportunities would close - 1700 members signed up in the space of two weeks”.

“True to our word we promised the community that if they got behind us we would deliver their team with the best uncontracted players possible” he said.

“We’re excited to have announced players of the high calibre of Nathan Bock, Nathan Krakouer, Michael Rischitelli and Campbell Brown and look forward to further announcements over the coming weeks. The community support for our Foundation Membership has provided the club with a solid foundation for these players”.

GC SUNS 2010 Foundation Members will be rewarded with priority pick of seating in the brand new Gold Coast Stadium for the 2011 Toyota AFL debut season and as a special promotion, the club will randomly select twenty 2010 members for a stadium tour where they will be the first members to physically select their reserved seats for 2011 and beyond.
