Will Graham has joined the SUNS AFL list as the fourth Academy player taken by the club in the 2023 AFL Draft.
Graham received a bid from the Crows at Pick 26 in the draft, with the SUNS quick to match that bid and ensure Graham fulfilled his dream of becoming a Gold Coast SUNS AFL footballer.
The 18 year-old has had success shifting from the midfield to the half-back line in recent years and has made a name for himself as a rebounding half-back with speed and exceptional ball use
Gold Coast SUNS National Recruiting Manager Kall Burns said Graham had all the attributes for success at AFL level.
“We’ve obviously been tracking Will since he first joined the Academy as a 13-year-old and through his junior years with Palm Beach Currumbin; he’s worked really hard in recent years to make this dream a reality,” Burns said.
“We love what Will offers as a footballer, he’s got all the attributes he needs to be successful in this next phase of his career and the drive to make it happen.
“We’re really excited by what Will can deliver and can’t wait to see him join the group for pre-season training.”
Graham is a very clean ball handler with a dazzling burst of speed.
He was a consistent performer across all four matches for the Allies, averaging 16.5 disposals at 80 percent efficiency.
His speed and power was on display at the national Draft Combine where he was ranked second in the 20m sprint (2.92 seconds) and standing vertical jump (78cm) as well as being third in the running vertical jump (95cm).
Graham is also a Palm Beach Currumbin junior alongside Jed Walter and Ethan Read.
