Rowell’s rampaging start

He smashed records in Opening Round and the former No. 1 pick backed it up in Round 1 with a typically bullish performance.

Rowell had another 29 touches against the Crows to go with a game-high 10 tackles and another nine clearances, already taking his season tally to 29.

His work in-and-under the contest to set up best mate Noah Anderson in the first term exemplified just how hard he is to stop.

Midfield shining

Vice-captain Sam Collins heaped praise on his midfielders following Opening Round and they were on song again against the Crows. Anderson and Sam Flanders combined for 70 touches, Touk Miller and Rowell had 29 touches and 10 tackles apiece while an unfortunate falcon for Jarrod Witts was the lowlight in an otherwise strong showing around the ground for the big ruckman.

Defensive wall

The Crows shimmied the door open late to fire back into the contest but had managed just the three goals to three-quarter time.

Not much got past Charlie Ballard (13 intercept possessions) and Wil Powell (10 intercept possessions), Bodhi Uwland continued to shine in just his fourth AFL game while Sam Collins’ 10.5 spoils per game leads the league.

People flocking to People First

Our dedicated members and supporters turned out in force at People First Stadium as one of four sell-outs in Opening Round, and a week later, SUNS fans were part of history this weekend as the AFL recorded the highest ever attended round with 413,405 fans attending Round One matches.

Roving Rosas

It’s been some start to the season for Malcolm Rosas Jnr who finds himself alongside Ben King as the early leader in the SUNS goalkicking stakes.

The young Northern Territory product is making the most of his chances and earning the plaudits for his defensive pressure work as well.

Fantasy watch

Still coming in at under $700k, Brayden Fiorini has thrown himself into the conversation for those outside the 0.56% of owners. Scores of 98 and 100 in the first two rounds will have prospective coaches needing to act quick with a $57k increase following the Crows game.

Those who backed popular pre-season pick Sam Flanders will be pleased with his 119-point showing which leads to a breakeven of just 80.

Tom Berry also chipped in with a career-high 84 points.
