Co-captain Jarrod Witts has reaffirmed his commitment to the Gold Coast SUNS, penning a two-year contract extension.

Witts, who joined the club in 2017 and has held the captaincy since 2018, will remain in the red, gold and blue until at least the end of 2026.

The towering ruckman is set to eclipse the record for most games as SUNS captain, currently held by Gary Ablett Jnr, later this season and is delighted to have his SUNS future secured for a further two campaigns.

“I love this club and I’ve made some incredible memories with the great people here at the SUNS,” Witts said.

“Looking ahead, I’ve got great belief in the people within our footy club and I see the drive to improve constantly.

“We’re all incredibly motivated to earn on-field success. I want to play in finals in front of our supporters and challenge for it all.”

Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron says, “Jarrod has played an integral role throughout the last eight years at the Gold Coast SUNS, both on and off the field, having served in seven of those seasons as captain.

“We’re thrilled to have finalised an extension that will see him remain at the club for a further two seasons.”

Witts currently sits in ninth on the club’s games record list having featured 127 times in SUNS colours since joining from Collingwood ahead of the 2017 season.

He has played 167 games across a 12-year career to date, also winning the SUNS Club Champion in 2019.
