The SUNS got off to a blistering start in the QClash rematch, kicking seven goals to two in a fast-paced first quarter.

After playing the majority of the season off half-back, Alex Sexton proved his versatility by kicking five majors in a forward role, to go with 21 disposals and 10 marks.

Brayden Fiorini was one of the best on field, putting up seven marks, nine tackles, seven clearances with his 29 disposals for the day.

Jack Mahony dominated the forward line early, kicking the first major of the game and following up with a second goal shortly after.Rory Atkins hit the ground running with 10 first-quarter disposals (31 for the game), and Darcy Macpherson also started well with one goal and seven touches.

The SUNS dominated the first half, leading the way with their defensive pressure and fronting up 10 individual goal scorers to half time. The Lions picked up in the second quarter, with both teams kicking four goals each, but the SUNS' fast start helped to keep the Lions at bay, maintaining a 31-point lead into the main break.

Former Melbourne Renegades player Zak Evans made his SUNS debut, playing the second half of the match.

Evans quickly notched up his first touch with a strong mark off half back, whilst Caleb Graham left the ground with a leg injury during the third term and did return to play.

Gold Coast Academy players Beau Addinsall and Dylan Patterson played well with two majors each.

They were joined by Zeke Uwland (15 disposals) and Leo Lombard (11) as Academy players to show their wares.

Jy Farrar put on a last quarter show, kicking two goals with a couple of snaps from the forward pocket to finish off what was an impressive display from the SUNS as they head into the final weeks of the season.

The Lions made a late charge toward the end of the final term, but the SUNS' four quarter dominance was too strong for them to make any real dint in the final 35 point margin.
