The Gold Coast SUNS are pleased to announce Alex Davies has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Gold Coast SUNS until the end of 2026.

Into his fourth year with the SUNS, Davies has played 34 AFL games for the club and worked his way into Senior Coach Damien Hardwick’s best 23 to finish the 2024 season.

A StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduate out of Cairns, Davies has been wearing the red and gold since the age of 12 and said he was excited by the future.

“I have been with the SUNS for over 10 years now through my time in the Academy and couldn’t picture myself anywhere else,” Davies said.

“I love the city and love my teammates, so I’m looking forward to continuing my career with the SUNS.”

Davies joined the SUNS in 2020 as a pre-listed rookie, and played seven AFL games in 2024, averaging seven tackles, 16 disposals and three clearances per game.

GC SUNS General Manager of Player Talent & Strategy Craig Cameron said the club was pleased to retain Davies.

“Alex has become a reliable midfielder and we are pleased he has decided to re-sign with the club. We are excited to watch him continue to develop in the years to come,” Cameron said.

Davies is one of 14 StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduates currently on the club’s list.
