The Gold Coast SUNS has announced its team to take on the Melbourne Demons at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
SUNS members and fans will get the first chance to see Sam Flanders and Mac Andrew in the 2025 premiership season, with the pair recovering from injury to be two of three inclusions for the match.
Also coming into the team is StreetSmarts SUNS Academy graduate Jed Walter, who missed the Round 1 clash against the Eagles through suspension.
Coming out of the side are Charlie Ballard (knee), Ben Ainsworth (quad) and Alex Sexton (omitted).
The club will announce its substitute one hour prior to first bounce, with Sexton, Caleb Graham and Ned Moyle making up the emergency list.
The SUNS, coming off a Bye in Round 2, currently sit sixth on the AFL ladder after one game.
Saturday’s match will be the club’s only game at the MCG in the 2025 home and away season, and will also be the first AFL match at the famous venue for Jed Walter and Ethan Read.
Dan Rioli (102 games) and John Noble (59) are the club’s most experienced players at the MCG.
The SUNS’ last victory over Melbourne came in Round 5, 2014 – also at the MCG.
The match against the Demons gets underway at 12:20pm AEST and will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo, and on 7mate on delay for Queensland viewers.
