In his 50th AFL game, Gold Coast SUNS utility Sean Lemmens has earned himself a round one Coates Hire Goal of the Year nomination.
Reminiscent of his spectacular goal against the Lions in QClash8, Lemmens revived the ‘Candyman’ nickname in QClash13 with a brilliant major early in the third quarter.

With the SUNS trailing by 40 points, Lemmens turned on a dime to elude one Brisbane opponent before shimmying around another with a delicious sidestep and finishing with the goal from 30 metres out.
The goal provided a major spark for the Gold Coast, with the home side kicking eight of the next 11 goals to level the scores before eventually falling two points short.
