Gary Ablett was close to unstoppable against the Saints, kicking four first-half goals to guide his SUNS to a 38-point win at Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The captain is likely to add a further three Brownlow votes to his 2014 tally after another stunning performance with a stats line that included 37 possessions (22 of which were contested), eight clearances and seven inside- 50s to go with his bag of goals.

The SUNS midfield fired on all cylinders with the usual suspects all playing substantial roles in the win. Jaeger O’Meara had 29 touches to go with a game-high nine clearances and eight tackles while Dion Prestia had 28 disposals and six clearances.

David Swallow also had 28 possessions, seven marks and seven clearances while Jarrod Harbrow added 26 disposals across half-back for the SUNS.

The forward line was also in fine form for the Gold Coast with Tom Lynch and Brandon Matera both kicking four goals while Harley Bennell slotted three goals in his second game back from injury.
