Gold Coast SUNS livewire Harley Bennell has been nominated for the 2014 Mark of the Year for his spectacular one-handed grab in the first quarter of the win over St Kilda on Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

GC SUNS skipper Gary Ablett started the movement that led to Bennell’s mark, beating two Saints players to a loose ball before his handpass found Tom Lynch who fired the ball in to the forward line.

Bennell was locked in a one-on-one contest with Tom Curren, and with just his right arm free, he somehow managed to reel the Sherrin in before booting his team’s third goal of the game in a record-setting first term.  The 21-year-old finished with three goals in just his second game back from injury.

To win Mark of the Year, Bennell needs the support from fans with public voting to determine the weekly winner.
