With his first AFL game in the books, SUNS forward Jack Lukosius has set his sights on making an impact at Metricon Stadium this Sunday.
The 18-year-old was impressive on debut and showed his poise by foot as he recorded five inside 50s and two goal assists.
"It was an awesome experience, something I’ve always dreamt of as a kid," Lukosius told SUNS Media.
"To have the opportunity to do that on the weekend was awesome and I had plenty of family and friends there to support me as well."
Lukosius had a brigade of friends and family travel to Melbourne for the match, and enjoyed a heartfelt memory prior to the game when Senior Coach Stuart Dew invited the draftee’s parents to present Lukosius with his guernsey.
"It was a really special moment," Lukosius said.
"Dewy said some really kind words and it meant a lot to me.
"Then to get the guernsey from mum and dad was awesome and something I’ll cherish forever."
The no. 2 draft pick will get his first opportunity to play at Metricon Stadium this weekend in front of SUNS members and fans.
He says he’s looking forward to finally playing on the oval he’s been training on over the pre-season.
"I can’t wait, It’ll be great to play in front of the Gold Coast crowd and the community out there," Lukosius said.
"Hopefully a win isn’t too far away and they’ll enjoy how we go about it.
"It’ll be awesome, it’s a great oval and there’s lots of space to run around on.
"It’ll be good to be working with the forwards and hopefully kick a few goals out there."
