The Gold Coast SUNS are thrilled to announce that Amy Shark will perform as part of the pre-game show when the team returns to Metricon Stadium for the Round 11 match against the Geelong Cats on Saturday June 2.
Gold Coast born and bred, Shark rose to stardom with the release of her debut single ‘Adore’ in 2016 before releasing her first EP in April 2017.
GC SUNS CEO Mark Evans was excited to announce Shark’s performance as part of a 45-minute pre-game show to celebrate the SUNS returning to Metricon Stadium.
“AFL is coming back to Metricon Stadium and we want Gold Coasters to get out and support both Amy and the Gold Coast SUNS on June 2, as footy and a full afternoon of activities for the family return to Metricon Stadium” Evan’s said.
“Amy is a fantastic local Gold Coast talent who has burst onto the scene over the last couple of years and we can’t wait for her to rock Metricon, before the match gets underway.”
In 2017 Amy was nominated for six ARIA Awards including Album of the Year & Best Female Artist before going on to take home the honours in both the Best Pop Release & Breakthrough Artist categories.
Shark, who will return from touring the United States on May 31, is set to bring Metricon Stadium back to life after its recent transformation for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast where she last performed as part of the Closing Ceremony.
“I can’t wait to perform at Metricon Stadium, the last time I was there was for the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games and it’s so exciting to be back.” Shark said.
“I’m so proud to be from the Gold Coast and to support our local sports culture and the GC SUNS and Metricon are a big part of that!”
Amy, who recently released her latest single ‘I Said Hi’ is returning home to release her first album titled ‘Love Monster’ on July 13 before embarking on a national tour.
