KARMICHAEL Hunt was among the SUNS reserves best performers alongside fellow senior players Jared Brennan and Michael Rischitelli in the team’s 145-point victory over Labrador on Saturday afternoon.

‘Karmichael showed great leadership through his hardness and his ability to play with such competitive spirit led the group very well,” Shaun Hart told goldcoastfc.com.au.

In just his first week back from a calf injury, the tri-code pioneer showed flashes of brilliances reminiscent of his break-out 2012 campaign – shepherding team mates and throwing his weight around intimidating his opponents.

“I thought he was terrific, he got his usual inside ball but his use by foot was fantastic,” Hart said.

“It is something he has worked on and improved over time since he got into the place so it’s great to see him getting the reward for effort.”

Players on the cusp of playing senior footy are likely to be in the mix after a heavy injury toll darkened the Gold Coast’s 13-point win over Melbourne.

After being substituted out of the match with soreness to the leg he broke against Fremantle last year, Nathan Bock is likely going to be iced for the remainder of the season, while Alex Sexton (AC Joint) and Sam Day (hamstring) won't play against Port Adelaide in Adelaide after going down in the final term with injury.

Hart said Hunt, Brennan and Rischitelli would be among the list of senior players discussed in the Match Committee meeting along with youngsters Josh Hall, Jackson Allen, Mav Weller and Andrew Boston.

“Three or four opportunities in the senior side may arise through to injury,” Hart said.

“They have done all the work to be in serious contention for a recall, but a final decision will be made later this week.”
