Approaching the last AFL game of the 2017 season a number of SUNS are listed as a test, while two names have been taken off the selection sheet, ahead of Gold Coast’s game against Port Adelaide.
The SUNS could board the plane to Adelaide with the likes of midfielders Jarryd Lyons (ankle) and Gary Ablett (hamstring), should the duo complete training on Thursday evening.
Interim Senior Coach Dean Solomon told radio station SEN Ablett was expected to be named.
"Gaz has been doing everything he possibly can to get up for this weekend. He said that to me two weeks ago, that he was a real chance to get up for the Port Adelaide game," Solomon said.
Tom Nicholls (ankle) and Jack Scrimshaw (groin) are also listed as tests, with each player to be assessed ahead of the weekend.
The news isn’t as positive for Rory Thompson, with goldcoastfc.com.au able to confirm the defender won’t return to the field in 2017 following ongoing hamstring issue.
The same applies to small forward Brandon Matera, who has been ruled out of selection with a continuing foot injury.
