With the AFL season proper knocking at the door, Gold Coast are poised in the starting blocks, awaiting that first siren at 3:35PM on Easter Saturday.
Just five days out from the season opener against Essendon, these final training sessions are about dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.
“Every year you want to start off well and it’s no difference this year,” vice-captain Tom Lynch told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
And how the first few rounds of the season will play out for Gold Coast is the big unknown for many, with various Melbourne media overlooking the SUNS in recent forecast reports.
But skipper Gary Ablett last week warned against writing off a team that has deepened its talent pool exponentially over the last 12 months.

Back on home turf, Lynch says the footy cliché of week-by-week is still the mentality as players keep their eyes firmly fixed on round one.
“We have got Essendon in Round 1 and we haven’t been looking too far past that,” Lynch said.
“We know that they are going to bring a good mix up here with young guys and they have got those experienced players coming in.
“They are going to be tough first up and we have got to be on our game.”
