Despite being on the receiving end of another heavy defeat on the weekend, the Gold Coast SUNS playing list remains in good spirits.

Monday’s review highlighted a number of positives efforts from the loss to the Giants as the attention shifts quickly to this Saturday’s game against Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.

“Obviously it was a disappointing loss but we’ve got to move on, take it week by week,” Callum Ah Chee told SUNS TV.

“Our effort was there and we just need to take that into next week and work on the things that we need to improve on.

“The boys are keeping their heads up, obviously we’ve got some injuries but everyone’s keeping in good stead and all the boys are getting around each other so everyone’s feeling positive.”

Ah Chee played his fifth senior game against GWS, collecting a career-high 15 disposals as well as three score assists.

The 18-year-old also played more than 80 per cent of game time for the first time in his career and said he is adjusting well to the requirements of football at the top level with a strong focus on improving his own game.

“I played 85 per cent last week, it’s the most game time I’ve played yet and I feel like I’m adjusting to it well,” Ah Chee said.

“My body’s adjusting to it so very happy and can only get better from here.

“Starting to put bigger expectations on myself and going into the game more confident, not letting the coaches down and playing my role.”

The West Australian praised the influence of vice-captain Tom Lynch on his own game, with the key forward playing a massive part in Ah Chee’s education and development on field.'

“He’s an amazing mentor, he’s such a good leader out on the field so having him there really helps within the forward line and structures,” Ah Chee said.

“Especially being a young guy it helps you fit in so much and you feel really confident with him out there.”

Bringing the effort against Adelaide is the key to turning the SUNS fortunes around according to Ah Chee.

“Just work together with that spirit there, that effort,” he said.

“Effort’s always the number one thing I think. The boys are feeling pretty good and pretty confident so as long as we bring that effort I think we’ll be right.”
