ALEX Sexton will undergo surgery on Wednesday morning to repair damage to his AC joint.
Sexton met with the specialists this morning to determine the extent of damage to his AC joint after injuring his shoulder in the final term of the SUNS 13-point victory against Melbourne on Saturday night.
It’s a shattering blow for the in-form Gold Coaster, who had recently begun to show plenty of promise at the elite level after putting together a string of spirited performances since making his return to the AFL action against Collingwood last month.
GC SUNS High Performance Manager – Stephen Schwerdt, updatedgoldcoastfc.com.au on the extent of Sexton’s injury.
“Alex will require surgery to repair his AC joint. Following the surgery we will be in a better position to determine the full extent of the damage, and an anticipated rehabilitation timeframe.” he said.
Sexton had added 4 matches to his career tally of 10 AFL appearances, and booted three goals in 2013.
